A bit about me
I'm Alberto Fortes, a full stack developer with over 20 years of experience building digital solutions for global brands such as Barceló, Vueling, Riu, Movistar, AECC, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Pearson, Warner Music and many more.
My career started in philosophy and logic, which gave me a solid foundation in critical thinking and problem solving. After my doctoral studies, I trained in computer science and object-oriented programming. Since then, I've led projects ranging from maintenance and evolution of legacy platforms to developing innovative products with React, Astro, Remix and AI tools.
I work with a holistic product vision, combining technology, design and user experience to build accessible, scalable and sustainable solutions.
What I do / services
- Full Stack Development: Node.js, PHP, Firebase, PocketBase, APIs and cloud deployments.
- Advanced Frontend Development: semantic HTML, CSS (CSS modules, preprocessors and postprocessors like Less and Sass, as well as Styled Components), modern JavaScript (ECMAScript 2025), TypeScript, React, WCAG accessibility, on-page SEO, UI/UX
- Extensive experience with common frameworks and CMS: NextJS, Gatsby, Remix, Astro, WordPress theme development without premium or third-party themes, since version 2.0 back in 2005; though in recent years I prefer headless WordPress only
- Web Accessibility & Usability: WCAG AA compliance, interface optimization and inclusive flows.
- Legacy Project Modernization: refactoring, progressive migration and maintenance of historical code.
- AI-engineering: Spec Driven Development (SDD), artificial intelligence integration in development processes, automation and digital product design.
